Vintage blue spongeware crock bowl, made in the USA circa 1940s. Unmarked but possibly made by Robinson Ransbottom Pottery Co. or Red Wing Pottery.

This blue pattern is most commonly referred to as Spongeware, but also as Spatterware. Unusually, this example appears to be handpainted, it is a unique variation from other spongeware which has a more mottled appearance, less clean lines. The base clay is also a lighter beige-grey tone than the more common buttery yellow colour. Could be used as a lovely planter.

Condition:
This is a beautiful example of mid-century Americana stoneware. It is in excellent condition which is rare for this kind of kitchenware. No chips, cracks or repairs.

Measurements:
10.7cm tall x 15cm diameter = approx 4.25" x 6"

More mid-century spongeware also available, some shown in last image.

Plant not included.
