Vintage Arne Bang for Arne Bang Workshop stoneware ribbed bowl, made in Denmark in the 1940s.

Arne Bang's stylized 'AB' monogram is incised on the base which indicates a more unique studio piece. Also marked as Model 118, part of Bang's iconic ribbed line. The beautiful form carries a characteristic semi-matte glaze in mottled shades of rich brown externally and a lighter sand shade inside. This piece is an excellent example of Bang's style in the late 1930s-40s and is a rare collector's item of machine-age Danish design.

Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or damage.

Measurements:
6.5cm tall x 12.8cm diameter = approx 2.5" x 5"

Other Scandinavian bowls also shown in last image.

After earlier years of collaboration with other designers and studios, Arne Bang opened his own studio in 1932 where he created neo-classical machine age ceramics until 1951. His work is entirely original, focusing on technical excellence and innovation to create unique designs that remain unmatched in imagination and excellence.
