Mid-century Scandinavian design Carl-Harry Stålhane for Rorstrand stoneware bud vase, made in Sweden circa 1950.

Rörstrand Sweden three crowns and Carl-Harry Stålhane CHS markings on the base. Also marked as style SPD. Factory 2nd. Markings are etched into base which is glazed in brown matte. Lovely high-gloss craquelure or 'crackle' glaze in a vibrant blue. Attractive teardrop shape with a very thin neck, perfect for a single stem. This is a rare collector's item of iconic Swedish design.

Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs.

Measurements:
12cm tall x 7.5cm wide = approx 4.75" x 3"
Opening is round, 8mm diameter.

Carl-Harry Stålhane was one of the most important ceramic artists and designers in Sweden during the 20th century. He worked for Rörstrand in 1939 to 1973. In the late 1940’s he first attracted international attention with his typical design for slender, symmetrical vases in monochrome, matte glazes, inspired by ancient Chinese Sung ceramics. His name is synonymous with high ceramic quality, magnificent creative design and brilliant craftsmanship.
