Impressive and iconic 'Oriente' colourful glass vase by Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso, made in Italy 1952.

Magnificent large form with pointed lip and asymmetrical cut-out. Internally decorated opaque polichrome glass with copper inclusions, pinwheel and filigrana in a stunning combination of bright colours. Very thick walls, this piece weighs a substantial 3kg. This is part of Martens famous 'Oriente' series. 

Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. Slight wear on base consistent with age, small graze on one side and tiny scratch.

Measurements:
28cm tall x 18cm wide x 10cm deep = approx 11" x 7" x 4"

Dino Marten was born in Venice in 1894. He studied painting and design at the Accademia di Belle Art in Rome. In 1939 Martens became artistic director for the renowned glass firm, Aureliano Toso. Martens' work for Aureliano Toso is legendary for his innovation and experimentation. His aesthetic became synonymous with Murano glass style of the 1950s.
