Mid-century Scandinavian design Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand stoneware vase, made in Sweden circa 1950.

Rörstrand Sweden three crowns and Gunnar Nylund GN incised on the base. Also marked as style AXQ. Factory first. This is a rare collector's item of iconic Swedish design. Lovely smooth semi-matte haresfur glaze in shades of beige and very light grey. Some graphite markings all around, they look like fine pencil lines (see pictures for details). Attractive sculpted form with gently fluted neck and delicate curved handle. Elongated pointed elliptical decoration around the body. Nice weight.

Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or damage. As mentioned above, some graphite markings all around.

Measurements:
23cm tall x approx 8cm wide = approx 9" x 3.25"
Slanted oval opening, 4.7cm x 4.2cm at top edge - it then narrows down the neck.

Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a Swedish ceramic designer and is one of the most well-known representatives of Scandinavian ceramic design in the 20th century. He is best known for his artistic direction of Rörstrand where he worked from 1931-1955. Nylund’s works are highly collectible and greatly sought after. Many are represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
