Vintage mid-century Scandinavian design by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand stoneware bowl, made in Sweden in the 1950s.

Rörstrand 'R' and three crowns, SWEDEN, GN markings on the base. Marked as style ARO - this is the medium size. Factory 1st. Shades of chocolate brown and tan blend together over navy blue undertones in a lovely semi-matte haresfur glaze. Some subtle graphite markings on the surface, as is common for this type of glaze. Beautiful sculptural form. It is a rare collector's item of iconic Swedish design.

Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or damage.

Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a Swedish ceramic designer and is one of the most well-known representatives of Scandinavian ceramic design in the 20th century. He is best known for his artistic direction of Rörstrand where he worked from 1931-1955. Nylund’s works are highly collectible and greatly sought after. Many are represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
