Vintage mid-century Scandinavian designed Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand Sweden stoneware bowl, made in Sweden in the 1950s.
Rörstrand 'R' and three crowns, SWEDEN, GN incised on the base. Also marked as style ARO. Rare beige coloured haresfur glaze with a dappled aubergine coloured rim. The centre of the bowl has beige and brown speckles. Beautiful sculptural form. It is a rare collector's item of iconic Swedish design.
Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. There are a couple of burst glaze bubbles in the centre from production (see photos), and the base is a little irregular. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Measurements:
5cm tall x 10.2cm wide x 7.5cm deep = approx 2" x 4.25" x 3"
If filled with heat-absorbing sand it would make a lovely incense holder*.
"Bowl only" option does not include sand and incense.
"Bowl + incense kit" option includes sand and one stick of Japanese incense.

Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a Swedish ceramic designer and is one of the most well-known representatives of Scandinavian ceramic design in the 20th century. He is best known for his artistic direction of Rörstrand where he worked from 1931-1955. Nylund’s works are highly collectible and greatly sought after. Many are represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
