Vintage mid-century Scandinavian design by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand stoneware dish, made in Sweden in the 1950s.

Rörstrand 'R' and three crowns, SWEDEN, GN markings on the base. Marked as style AUT. Factory 1st. Beautiful shades of golden brown and chocolate blend together in a lovely semi-matte smooth glaze. Lovely rounded diamond form, thick edges, sturdy weight.

Condition:
In good vintage condition. There is a small hairline crack to one corner, approximately 2.5cm long. The piece presents beautifully as it is barely noticeable, see zoomed photo.

Measurements:
3.5cm tall x 20cm wide x 18cm deep = approx 1.5" x 8" x 7"

Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a Swedish ceramic designer and is one of the most well-known representatives of Scandinavian ceramic design in the 20th century. He is best known for his artistic direction of Rörstrand where he worked from 1931-1955. Nylund’s works are highly collectible and greatly sought after. Many are represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
