Filigree glass decanter, made in Murano, Italy circa 1950s, attributed to Dino Martens.
Stunning piece, decorated with vibrant swirling filigree threads of colour enhanced by golden streaks, encased in clear glass. The Aventurnia technique, where sparkly inclusions of mineral oxide are added to the glass, was invented by Venetian glass-blowers in 1527.
The decanter is lightweight with a fluted edge and delicate round stopper.
Condition:
In very good vintage condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. Some faint surface scratches.

Dino Martens was born in Venice in 1894. He studied painting and design at the Accademia di Belle Art in Rome. In 1939 Martens became artistic director for the renowned glass firm, Aureliano Toso. Martens' work for Aureliano Toso is legendary for his innovation and experimentation. His aesthetic became synonymous with Murano glass style of the 1950s.
