Vintage studio pottery bowl, hand thrown by Gustaf Persman for Arvika Keramik, made in Sweden between 1930-1975.
Pretty hand-painted blue decorative lines and dots over a white base with a glossy finish. The form is a low bowl with a short pedestal and rounded side handles. Base is signed by the artist, incised with 'GP ARVIKA'. Would make a lovely fruit bowl.

Nils Gustaf Persman was born in 1908 in Arvika, Sweden. He died in September 1992 after a long career as a Swedish ceramist.
Persman received his first training as a ceramicist from Riborg Böving at Ålgården in Arvika. In the early 1930s he built his own ceramics workshop at his parents' home Hurra. He was later employed by Viktor Axelsson and worked there together with Åke Warnstad. When Axelsson died in 1946, he and Warnstad started their own ceramics workshop at Anneborg, which they ran until 1956. He then set up his own workshop in Nyhem Långvak, which he ran from 1956 to 1975.
