Vintage Pisgah Forest Pottery ceramic vase, handthrown in Asheville, North Carolina in 1940.

Pisgah Forest Pottery 1940 marking on base. Amazing collector's item! Beautiful turquoise to eggplant purple ombré shiny craquelure glaze with a smooth touch. Squat round form. Nice substantial weight.

Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. Some subtle imperfections in the glaze as it is a hand thrown piece. No chips, cracks or damage.

Measurements:
approx 11cm tall x 15cm diameter at widest point = approx 4.25" x 6"
Round opening 8.5cm diameter.

Pisgah Forest Pottery is the work of Walter B. Stephen. Inspired by the Arts & Crafts Movement he began making pottery with his mother in Tennessee around 1904. In 1926 while living in North Carolina he began his 3rd pottery operation, Pisgah Forest. He explored new techniques and created unique pieces of American pottery art. Pisgah Forest Pottery has gained national recognition from numerous museums and private collectors.
