Vintage Pisgah Forest Pottery ceramic vase, hand thrown in Asheville, North Carolina circa 1940.

Pisgah Forest Pottery 1940? (date is a little hard to make out) marking on base. Amazing collector's item! Beautiful turquoise shiny craquelure glaze with a smooth touch. Squat round form. Nice substantial weight for its size.

Condition:
In very good vintage condition. Some subtle imperfections in the glaze as it is a hand thrown piece. There is a hairline crack at the base - barely noticeable and the vase is still water tight. No other chips, cracks or damage.

Measurements:
approx 8.5cm tall x 11cm diameter at widest point = approx 3.5" x 4.5"
Round opening approx 6.5cm diameter.

Larger ombré vase available, as shown in last image.

Pisgah Forest Pottery is the work of Walter B. Stephen. Inspired by the Arts & Crafts Movement he began making pottery with his mother in Tennessee around 1904. In 1926 while living in North Carolina he began his 3rd pottery operation, Pisgah Forest. He explored new techniques and created unique pieces of American pottery art. Pisgah Forest Pottery has gained national recognition from numerous museums and private collectors.
