Vintage porcelain vase, designed by Uta Feyl for Rosenthal. Made in Selb, Germany late 1970s.

Rosenthal studio-linie Germany marking imprinted on base. Rarely found, sensual and anthropomorphic form. This is the larger size. Circular appearance from the side, swelling in the profile view. The subtle and elegant lines are enhanced by the semi-matte glaze, lightly speckled rich ochre colour over a deep brown base. This impressive vase is a great example of Feyl's 'Venus' design.

Born in the Czech Republic, Uta Feyl has worked for Rosenthal since 1979. Her work has included the series 'Venus' and 'Vongola' for the Studio-line range.

German porcelain company, Rosenthal was founded in 1879 as a workshop for the decoration of white porcelain by Philipp Rosenthal in the town of Erkersreuth in Selb. The company began to manufacture porcelain itself in 1891. From the very outset Rosenthal was a company that pointed the way ahead with its forms and décors. The close work with famous designers and artists since the early 1950’s had a major influence upon Rosenthal’s further development and the company was the first porcelain manufacturer to become a pioneer for contemporary, modern product design.
