Mid-century Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand Sweden vintage Rubus stoneware bowl, made in Sweden in the early 1960s.
Rörstrand three crowns, SWEDEN, GN markings on the brown matte glazed base. Also marked as style '2'. This is a style from the famous 'Rubus' line. Silky, textured surface glazed in shades of blue. Heavy, sturdy round form made from stoneware chamotte. This is a rare collector's item of iconic Swedish design.
Condition:
In very good vintage condition. There are some black stains as signs of wear but they don't detract from the beauty of this piece. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Measurements:
5.5cm tall x 17cm diameter = approx 2.25" x 6.75"
If filled with heat-absorbing sand it would make a lovely incense holder*.
"Bowl only" option does not include sand and incense.
"Bowl + incense kit" option includes sand and one stick of Japanese incense.

Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a Swedish ceramic designer and is one of the most well-known representatives of Scandinavian ceramic design in the 20th century. He is best known for his artistic direction of Rörstrand where he worked from 1931-1955. He became well known for his new matte feldspar glazed stoneware in hares fur and crystal glazes. Nylund’s works are highly collectible and greatly sought after. Many are represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
