Vintage Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand Hedgehog vase, made in Sweden circa 1940.
Rörstrand three crowns, SVERIGE (Sweden) CHAMOTTE NYLUND markings on the base. Model V208. The Chamotte vases come in 3 sizes, this is the smallest size. Intricate deeply textured stoneware chamotte surface with a lovely brown glaze. Nice substantial weight. Rare collector's item, iconic Swedish design.

Opening is round, 2.5cm diameter at top edge.

Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a Swedish ceramic designer and is one of the most well-known representatives of Scandinavian ceramic design in the 20th century. He is best known for his artistic direction of Rörstrand where he worked from 1931-1955. Nylund’s works are highly collectible and greatly sought after. Many are represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
