Vintage mid-century Scandinavian design by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand stoneware bowl, made in Sweden in the 1950s.
Rörstrand 'R' and three crowns, SWEDEN, GN markings on the base. Marked as style ARO - this is the small size. There is also some handwriting on the base rim, likely exhibition markings. Factory 1st. Lovely matte haresfur glaze in shades of blue/green blending towards a brown rim with a contrast off-white edge. Lovely sculptural form. It is a great collector's item of iconic Swedish design.
Condition:
In very good vintage condition. Some burst glaze bubbles from production and a small cut on inside rim of base, does not show when exhibiting.

5.1cm tall x 10cm wide x 7.6cm deep = approx 2" x 4" x 3"

Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) was a Swedish ceramic designer and is one of the most well-known representatives of Scandinavian ceramic design in the 20th century. He is best known for his artistic direction of Rörstrand where he worked from 1931-1955. Nylund’s works are highly collectible and greatly sought after. Many are represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
