Antique hammered copper bowl by Karl F. Leinonen, made in Boston in the early 20th Century during the Arts & Crafts movement.
KFL and '176' markings impressed on the base referring to maker and style no. This is a great example of work produced during the arts and crafts era of the early 20th century. Expertly hand hammered from copper, the dish has a softly textured surface with a beautiful aged patina. This piece has not been cleaned for a long time to maintain it's unique signs of age.
Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. Staining and patina consistent with age and use only add to the charm of this piece. See pictures for details.

Karl F. Leinonen was an important metalsmith of the Arts and Crafts period. Finnish born and a trained silversmith, in 1893 he immigrated to Boston and was appointed master smith at the Handicraft Shop - founded by A.A. Carey, president of the Boston Society of Arts and Crafts. Leinonen later opened his own store. He was one of only 7 silversmiths to be named a Medalist by the Boston Society of Arts and Crafts, its highest honor.
