The production of porcelain at Meissen, near Dresden, started in 1710, established by King Augustus the Strong. As Europe’s first porcelain manufacturer it attracted artists and artisans to establish one of the most famous porcelain manufacturers, still in business today. Its signature logo, the crossed swords, was introduced in 1720 to protect its production; the mark of the crossed swords is one of the oldest trademarks in existence. Meissen creations are passed on and cherished from generation to generation for centuries - both as a precious memory of the past and as an investment in the future.

The creator of this piece, Ludwig Zepner (1931-2010) was a German porcelain artist, designer and inventor. In 1948 he began training at Meissen and continued working there as a porcelain artist until his retirement.
