Mid-century vintage Martin Freyer for Rosenthal bisque porcelain plissée vase, made in Selb, Germany late 1960s.
Designed by German artist Hans Martin Freyer for Rosenthal. Green Rosenthal Germany and Martin Freyer signature marking on base. Gold studio linie mark also on base. Style no. 2962 faintly relief stamped. Matte white surface with pleated ('plissée') ribbed relief texture. The base and interior have a glossy glazed finish. Beautiful Op Art collector's item!
Condition:
In very good vintage condition. There is a small chip on one bottom corner but only visible when looking very carefully. Some very faint surface marks.

Hans Martin Freyer (1909-1975) was a German painter and designer, born in Hanover, Germany. Throughout his career Freyer worked as a portrait artist, as well as a graphic and industrial designer for surface decorations and structures. From 1964 to 1974, he designed for Rosenthal Porcelain, developing relief decorations for glass and porcelain vases of the studio-line. His most well-known design is the Pleated Vase designed in 1968.
