Pair of antique ceramic jugs. Likely made in the early 20th Century in France. For sale as a pair.
Lovely glossy craquelure glaze, one in black with white spots, the other in white with black spots. Both have a pinky red interior that shows the natural colour of the terracotta clay. The bases are unglazed, the bottom of the white one has handwriting as they were acquired from a prop rental company. Classic sturdy forms with thick handles, these pieces show deep signs of age and wear. Would make a beautiful addition to a farmhouse or retro kitchen.
Condition:
Overall in good vintage condition. The white jug is in better condition than the black. Both show many signs of age and wear - markings, glaze irregularities. However the black one has quite a large chip out of the rim near the spout. It has been partially repaired but the chip is noticeable, approx 1.8cm across and 1.2cm down. Some of the glaze has also rubbed off the handle. Please see photos, I'd be happy to send more if you have any concerns.
