Vintage mid century modern Scandinavian design Vicke Lindstrand for Upsala-Ekeby ceramic bowl, made in Sweden in 1955.
Upsala-Ekeby Sweden and Vicke Lindstrand markings on the base. Model 8018 from the Fungi line. Amazing collector's item! The top resembles the underside of a mushroom cap with deep ribbed stripes, glazed in glossy off-white over a dark brown, almost black underlayer. The base is glossy dark brown/black.
Condition:
In excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks. There are some areas where the white glaze has skipped but they are from production, not chips.
Measurements:
5cm tall x 19cm diameter = approx 2" x 7.5"

Born in 1904, Vicke Lindstrand was a Swedish designer who is considered among the most influential 20th-century glass & ceramic artists. He is considered a pioneer of Swedish glass art and was Artistic Director at Kosta from 1950-1973 after working at Orrefors from 1928-1940 and Upsala-Ekeby from 1942-1950.
Upsala-Ekeby AB was a porcelain, tile, brick, and glass company founded in 1886 in Uppsala, Sweden. The factory ceased operations in 1980.
